This year ‘The Barbuda Cup Charity Golf Day’ was hosted in Midhurst, West Sussex to raise funds for the hurricane in Caribbean last year.
Overnight on the 5th September 2017, the island of Barbuda was all but wiped out by Hurricane Irma. Tragically 95% of the island was obliterated including the hospital, schools, shops and peoples’ homes. Reports state that the island needed to raise close to $225 million to be rebuilt again
So on July 5th ‘The Barbuda Cup Charity Golf Day’ was held. This special fundraiser was to help the people of Barbuda rebuild their shattered lives.
Sir Richie Richardson, former West Indies Cricket Captain, was among the guests of ‘Friends of Barbuda’ to support this special golf event.
‘The Barbuda Cup’ was held at Cowdray Park Golf Club. Situated near Midhurst, in the heart of the South Downs, this picturesque course was an exceptional venue to hold such a prestigious fundraiser.

Golf Marker Systems along with My Belts were delighted to offer a range of their golf products free for this very special golf day, including some custom made golf proximity markers and belt buckles as shown in the photo.
On the day itself, after the tournament took place, guests were invited to join the organisers on the Terrace for cocktails and an informal Caribbean BBQ with live steel drums, speeches and prize giving. Sounds like a great event and for a well-deserved cause!
